Here, you'll find a variety of writings from
our student writers and also from some of our parents. All the
pieces were written during school year 2005-6. Some express
feelings about being students and pre-teens. Others, deal with
the school and life in Las Vegas.
Autobiography Poem
I am a girl with feelings
I wonder about boys
I hear people talking
I see my friends
I want to be good in everything
I am a girl with anger
I pretend to be something I am not
I feel like a small person in this world
I touch others with my writing
I worry that I am not good enough
I cry when I think about my family members that are
gone
I am a girl that wants everything
I understand that everything can’t go my way
I say that I am not good at anything
I dream of being everything
I try hard at things
I hope I can be what ever I want
I am a girl that does not know what she wants

I came
here from
Kenya. It was a lot different from
the old school in
Kenya
because there we wore uniforms. At
Fremont, there were tall
people. I got lost just
looking for my classes.
And there were a lot of people! The classes were
different. The teachers
didn’t spank the kids here if they did something wrong. The language was
different. When they
spoke Spanish instead of English it was so weird. I didn’t know what they were
saying. The kids here
cursed a lot. I heard
kids got suspended, but it was not fair because I thought they were
having a vacation by getting to stay home.
Now after a year, I have gotten used to the school. I got into clubs and found
my classes in ten seconds.
Now I’m used to everything. I have lots of friends and
new teachers every year.
I’m in After School Scribes, Family Scribes and Dance. I’m really getting used to
the teachers and everything else. I’m also getting good
grades. Now, I meet new
fiends all the time.
Being new to the school was hard because I got lost, but
really, Fremont is a
pretty nice school.

Tania M.’s
Opinions of Fremont,
I like a lot about
Fremont. (Not really but we can go
with that. lol) I
really like Fremont.
I am glad I go here. I
wrote the first part of this writing in December 2005 and the
second part this March.
One thing I like about
Fremont is all my
teachers. I like them because they are so funny. If I had too change classes
I would not, because I like the teachers I have already. What I like about my
teachers is how they make us laugh. My teachers are the ones
that get me to do my work and I thank them for that.
What I do not like
about Fremont is how
when I am in the hall the older kids push you. It hurts. I wish they would stop
because I do not do it to them. Hey, I know they will not
stop, but I wish they would.
I also want to do it to them but I do not want to get in a
fight.
Another thing I like
about Fremont is how we
do not have to stay in the same class. I have a lot of fun with
different teachers. I
am glad that we get to walk to our different classes. Well that is all I have to
say. Well ok, bye.
Part 2, from March 06
What I like at
Fremont know is how we
get to go swimming in the summer. I have not gone yet, but I
hear that it is fun and that you get to play chicken fight. I hope when it is summer and
we get to go that it is as fun as everyone says. I like to have fun when I do
things because then it gives me something that will make me want to
go to school.
What I do not like
about Fremont is how
everyone thinks that they rule the school because that is not cool
at all. I wish that it
did not have to be like that, but that is how people are these
days. I’ve got to admit
that I think that way some times.
Another thing I like about
Fremont is how all the
boys are cute. They
dress so fine that it blows my mind. Some of them are
SoOoOoOoOoOoO cute. You
see most of the girls looking at the same guy. Then they get in an argument
or fight. Well that is all for now. Bye, till next time.

I Know
Fremont…
I know
Fremont is 50 years
old.
I know
Fremont used to be an
elementary school.
I know
Fremont used to be a
junior high.
I know
Fremont used to have
rats.
I know at
Fremont the students
push to get to classes.
I know
Fremont has teachers
that get mad if you talk too much or don’t do your work.
I know
Fremont has dirty
bathrooms that stink.
I know
Fremont has cool
teachers.

I am a bird ready to fly.
I wonder where life will take me.
I hear my life running past my ears.
I see myself going far from home.
I want to be free.
I am a bird ready to fly.
I pretend to be invisible.
I feel like I could soar through pain.
I touch the sky with my bare hands.
I worry that I can’t go on.
I cry when I am left behind.
I am a bird ready to fly.
I understand I have the strength.
I say I have the power.
I dream of clouds and stars.
I try to run fast when I touch the earth.
I hope I can lift myself up.
I am a bird ready to fly.
I wrote this poem
because it expresses how I feel. As a young person it is
important to tell how you feel and to express yourself in
words. This tells that
I am very independent
and have a way with words.
My favorite part is the part where I talk about me pretending
to be invisible. That
part means that when I feel pain or anything I act invisible. Many people from the past
that went to the school can probably relate to this. Students at the school this
year may also relate to this.
I dedicate this poem to kids that have a lot to say about
their feelings.
This is my poem.
Thank you
