Family
Writing Projects, whether at J. C. Fremont Middle School or
other sites, would not exist if not for the involvement and
encouragement of the following individuals and
organizations. Click on the links for
each group to visit their websites.
Southern Nevada Writing Project,
Rosemary Holmes-Gull Director: From
the conceptual stage in 2000 to the explosive growth of family
writing projects in 2004, the Southern Nevada Writing Project has
supported Family Writing Projects in Las Vegas. Currently,
Southern Nevada Writing Project Teacher Consultants are facilitating
numerous family writing projects in Clark County School District
Schools. Additionally, the Southern Nevada Writing Project is
offering training and guidance to schools and
teachers interested in starting family writing projects.

John C.
Fremont Middle School, Las Vegas,
NV: Principal, Shawn Boyle. John C.
Fremont Middle School is where the whole family writing project
phenomena began in 2001. We meet on the school's campus and
are concerned with the school's success. Our project wants to
thank the school's faculty and administration for their interest and
support over the past three years.
City of Las Vegas, Nevada, Oscar
Goodman, Mayor: In 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 the
City of Las Vegas supported our Fremont Family Writing Project with
$1000 grants that enabled us to work on community oriented projects
including gardens and murals on the campus of John C. Fremont Middle
School. These funds also made possible the recording of our
spoken word CD, Family Matters.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It goes without saying that if these groups
had not supported the Fremont Family Writing Project over the past
few years, family writing projects would not exist around Las Vegas
or across the country. They made it possible for this
work to come into being and get off the ground. We cannot
thank these groups and their leaders enough for their vision,
support and encouragement!

Believe
Believe in yourself
To get to places
and see faces
there are so many things to
do
when all you need is
to believe in you.
To have a life of
wonder
To have self freedom
To have peace within
you need to believe.
Don't put yourself
down
Listen to those who
encourage
Turn deaf to those who put
down
Know that there will always
be
at least one person who's there
for you.
